Who We are

KASI core leadership includes:

  • Gail Buhler, lead organizer with Education Austin

  • Brian Degman, software developer and current AISD parent

  • Patti Everitt, board member of Our Schools, Our Democracy, education research/policy consultant, and parent of AISD graduates

  • Lily McClure, Austin Council of PTA’s Campus Chair and current AISD Parent

  • Amy Moore,  Austin Supporters of Math Education coordinator, former supervisor at Austin Partners in Education, and parent of AISD graduates

  • Noelita Lugo, former Austin ISD at-large trustee (2021-2025), founder of Save Austin Schools 2019, and current AISD parent

Our broader leadership council also includes district parents, educators, community organizers, public education advocates, academics, and others who believe in our mission of keeping Austin schools independent.
